About Control

'CONTROL’ THE RISKS

‘Control’ is about risk management. No matter how well your organisation is designed, everything is always subject to change. That is a good thing. But it does mean that something might happen that constitutes a threat to the realisation of your objectives. This makes it important that you stay alert and identify possible risks quickly. So you can decide whether or not to do something about them.

A good defence against risks consists of a number of defence lines. The first and most important one is the responsibility of line management. Line managers monitor the results through, for example, management reports and progress reviews. This enables them to determine whether or not the measures in place are having the desired effect. The second line of defence consists of all manner of risk management activities. This role is usually taken up by departments like risk management, control or compliance. They supervise the operations. The final line of defence is the performance of audits. Together, all those lines limit your potential hazards. So you can sleep easy.

ACS can help you manage your risks. We help improve all your lines of defence. This, incidentally, does not only apply to your organisation as a whole, but also to risk management in programmes and improvement processes.
