Our employees - Ron(ald) de Korte

Year of birth: 1961

Position: Managing Partner

Employee since: Formally since 1 July 2007, but I've felt part of the team since 2002.

Background / education: Register Accountancy (extensive NivRA 1991) and postgrad IT Auditing (Free University 1993).

Working history before ACS: (Moret) Ernst & Young (accountancy, EDP auditing, research). Subst. Director Internal Audit Department Dutch Railways (1995-2001), combined with the responsibility for the Internal / Operational Auditing training (postgraduate) at the Erasmus University (1995-present).

Motivation / drive to work at ACS: The climate at ACS stimulates me enormously to keep going ever more deeply into the auditing and consultancy practise and to keep making it broader. The search for 'different and better' drives us personally, but also our clients, and prevents that we, as an external party, take all the management responsibilities. ACS motivates its clients to stay in control, this way even our executive work has a coaching aspect.

My main job here is: Research (including audits), training and coaching. A lot of training and coaching questions (such as the 'broadening of an auditing department') concern 'Change' (so really all 4 of the Cs), but often spring from 'Construct' or (re)design. In the role of expert, you also tend to get into 'Create' really quickly. The research (including audits) tends to go further than problem detection, namely finding the causes of those problems to truly help the client to get a step closer to the solutions. My recognition in the market is based on auditing and
control ('Control'). Due to my accountancy background I consider financial information in the sense of steering information as very important, but can also quickly see the limitations of thinking in terms of reliability alone. My IT auditing background causes many IT related assignments to soon find their way to me, but we like to see through that and get to the
'organisation', that is the people, leading to 'Change'! Due to my project and programme auditing experience I am often the one to build the bridge between the clients, the changers and the users. This way, the 'Cure' aspect is also a daily part of my work.

Passion: To spread new ideas (teaching, publishing) and making them happen (coaching, motivating). What I seem to nurture is a tendency to not really adjust. For instance, taking the motorcycle to go see a client, talking about things others have already given up on, being slightly 'underdressed' or accidentally 'overdressed' (terminology against the current 'fashion'). I guess you can call me self-willed.

Personal motto: 'Get real!'
